When We Pray

Put God first. Matt.6:10- Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
Be specific. Mark11:24- Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them].
Always pray according to God’s will.

How To Pray Without Ceasing

Psalm 42:1-7- [[To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.]] As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where [is] thy God?

When I remember these [things], I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and [why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him [for] the help of his countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Thirst for God. Come into God’s presence.

Ps.42:4- When I remember these [things], I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. David was desiring to experience by himself, what he experienced with the multitude.

Ps.42:5- Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and [why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him [for] the help of his countenance. David was so hungry for God that it began to effect him emotionally. When our thirst for God effects us physically, then God will quench it.

Ps.42:6-7- O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. David wanted God’s presence so much that he cried it from the very depth of his being. We must have a great cry in our hearts for a deep relationship with God. When we receive that, we’ll experience God’s presence as waves coming over us.

Ps.63:1-2- A Psalm of David, in his being in the wilderness of Judah. O God, Thou [art] my God, earnestly do I seek Thee, Thirsted for Thee hath my soul, Longed for Thee hath my flesh, In a land dry and weary, without waters. So in the sanctuary I have seen Thee, To behold Thy strength and Thine honour. We must desire to have in our own personal time with God what we experience with the multitude.

Ps.63:1-A Psalm of David, in his being in the wilderness of Judah. O God, Thou [art] my God, earnestly do I seek Thee, Thirsted for Thee hath my soul, Longed for Thee hath my flesh, In a land dry and weary, without waters. Early in the morning is our best time. Always give God your best.

Ps.:63:8- Cleaved hath my soul after Thee, On me hath Thy right hand taken hold. God helps us seek Him when we long for God.

John 6:44- no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day; In order to seek God, we must first be sought by God. Wait on God to give the hunger and to carry you through. Dependence on God is the key to God’s power on your life. Prayer is from the heart.

God uses us when we’re relaxed

True hunger will move God to touch us. We pray to fellowship. Zech.4:6- And he answereth and speaketh unto me, saying: `This [is] a word of Jehovah unto Zerubbabel, saying: Not by a force, nor by power, But -- by My Spirit, said Jehovah of Hosts. John 6:44- no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day; “God will not

1) Surrender brings constant fellowship. We must allow God to bring us to the place where prayer becomes us. Private prayer gives birth to the constant prayer.           Ex.33:13- And now, if, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, cause me to know, I pray Thee, Thy way, and I know Thee, so that I find grace in Thine eyes, and consider that this nation [is] Thy people;' God has to help us get to know Him or nothing will happen.
do it without you, and you cannot do it without Him.” -Oral Roberts

_          Don’t plan anything in God’s presence.
_          Don’t put limits on God.
_          Be alone. Protect the anointing. Distraction kills the anointing.
_          Prepare the atmosphere. (worship musick)

The heart must break in order for the presence to fall. Psalm 42:1-7- To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.]] As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me,

Where [is] thy God?

Repentance breaks down the walls between you and God.

Is.26:8-9- Also, [in] the path of Thy judgments, O Jehovah, we have waited [for] Thee, To Thy name and to Thy remembrance [Is] the desire of the soul. [With] my soul I desired Thee in the night, Also, [with] my spirit within me I seek Thee earnestly, For when Thy judgments [are] on the earth, The inhabitants of the world have learned righteousness. Ceaseless prayer is impossible without God’s presence stirring it.

There is only so much that we can say to God. When we break before God, then the spirit prays through us. Then fellowship begins. And one feeds on the other. The Spirit touches and we respond then He touches us again and it just keeps going.

Zephaniah 1:7- Hush! because of the Lord Jehovah, For near [is] a day of Jehovah, For prepared hath Jehovah a sacrifice, He hath sanctified His invited ones. Silence before God is the result of a soul that has experienced abundance. We must get into God’s presence to where the mind is disconnected and the heart begins. The presence of God activates ceaseless prayer. If we turn it on, it runs out fast. With God, we must re fuel everyday.
Hosea 2:14- Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. Isolation. Job4:16- It standeth, and I discern not its aspect, A similitude [is] over-against mine eyes, Silence! and a voice I hear: When silence begins, the spirit will move.

Isaiah 57:10- Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; [yet] saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved. If the flesh does it, it kills the desire for tomorrow. We must be overtaken by what God is doing. We enter God’s presence through prayer. Then His presence becomes our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer

Revelations about the Lord’s Prayer

Introduction:

Matthew 6:5-7- -And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you,They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”

Matthew 7:24- “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” Don’t pray to be seen by men but by God.

Get alone. Matt.6:6 – “ But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

Prayer chambers, it is not how much time in prayer you spend. But how much time with God do we spend. Anything not connected to relationship with God, is rejected by God. Matt.6:7- “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” God forbids vain repetition. Prayer produced out of the mind is always rejected. 2Corinthians 12-7-8-

“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me”. Paul prayed three times that the thorn in his flesh would be taken away. In Psalms 119 he asked 7 times teach me thy statutes. Spirit led persistence is very powerful.

Matthew 6:9- The Disciples Prayer- After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. John17 is the Lord’s prayer.

“Our Father”- This has to do with relationship to God. You cannot cry “our father” without a relationship.
“Our Father” This has to do with fellowship with God. (A company of people that shares the same interest or aim) wiktionary inc. This is where we find intimacy with God where we cry Abba Father. “Daddy God”.

Jesus called God his Father except when He was on the cross. Because at that point, fellowship was broken, so, He said, “My God, My God.” Without a relationship, you can’t Know Him as Father. Sin breaks fellowship. Isaiah 64:8- “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand”.

Jeremiah 3:19-20- “But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. Surely [as] a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.”

John 8:42- “Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.” We must know Jesus in order to know God as Father. Hosea 11:3-4- “I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them. I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.”

3 jobs of a Father

A father holds your hand and leads you. Hosea 11:3- “I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.”
A father delivers your bondages and your burdens.

“Our Father”- This also has to do with dependence on God as your father.
“Our Father”- It is only through the Holy Spirit that we are able to call Him Father. Rom. 8:15-“ For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Gal.4:6- “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” We are to be led by the Spirit. “Our Father” also speaks of unity.

“Our Father”- This also has to do with fellowship with the saints.
“Which art in Heaven”- This has to do with knowing God’s authority. Matt.6:9- “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”
“Hallowed be thy name”- 1 Peter 3:15- “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” This has to do with His person. Sanctifying Him in our hearts. Giving Him his place in our lives.
