Demon Names

Familiar Spirit: (Lev.20:6,27)  “And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.  A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.”  This spirit is associated with wizardry or witchcraft.

Treacherous Spirit:  (Jdg.9:23)  “Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech.”  As a result of the actions of this spirit, the people acted deceitfully.  This is still going on today in many areas.  Many act deceitfully as a result of a spirit behind their actions.  This causes much havoc and turmoil in our society.

Spirit of Sadness:  (ISam. 16:14)  “And the Spirit of Jehovah turned aside from Saul, and a spirit of sadness from Jehovah terrified him.”  Sadness overcame Saul as a result of his defiance against God.  Only when David played his harp did it leave.  This should say something about praise.  It drives demons away.

Lying Spirit:  (IKings 22:23) “Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.”  The false prophecy of lying spirits.  One needs to be careful about receiving prophetic words from those that aren’t of God.

Blind & Dumb Spirit:  (Matt.12:22)  “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.”  After the demon is cast out, we see that the ailment ceases.  It was caused by demonic power.

Deaf & Dumb Spirit:  (Mark 9:25)  “When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.”

Unclean Spirit:  (Matt.12:43)  “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.”  (Used 22 x in scripture)  This just has to do with general unclean in thought and deed.  Anything that can be done that is bad it will do.  The term foul spirit is the same as unclean.

Deluding & Seducing Spirit:  (ITim.4:1)  “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”  The word seduce means to lead into error.  It states that those that depart from the faith. (Christianity) will fall victim to this spirit.  So it is in this generation.  If you stray away from God’s ways and doctrine, you will be influenced by this spirit.

Legion:  (Mark 5:8-9) “And he asked him, What [is] thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion for we are many.”  This is often a term demons will use for many spirits inhabiting a person.

Spirit Of Divination:  (Acts 16:16)  “And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:”  Those that are into this realm run the risk of being demonized into service for a great deception orchestrated by alien entities.

Satan’s Names

The Prince Of The Power Of The Air:  (Eph.2:2)  “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.”  The word prince speaks of the exalted position of his rulership.  Power speaks of the sphere of his rulership.  (The heavens)

The Prince Of This World:  (John 12:31) “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”  (16:11) “Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”  Satan is the prince of this world.  If one doesn’t heed the doctrine of God and the warnings contained therein, the god of this world is the only other choice.

The Prince Of Darkness:  (Eph.6:12) “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

The god of this world:  (IICor.4:4)  “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”  Those that believe not, are blinded by him.

King:  (Rev.9:11) “And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.”  He controls all that are under him.  He is king of the demons.

Angel of Light: (IICor.11:14) “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”  Another reason so many are deceived.

Roaring Lion:  (IPet.5:8) “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”  A lion will look intently at its prey as it hunts.  Just waiting for the opportunity to strike.  So it is with Satan.

Serpent:  (Gen.3:1) “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”  (IICor.11:3) “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”  Subtil: Crafty, cunning.  Satan is very cunning.

Beelzebub, (Prince of Devils):  (Matt.12:24) “But when the Pharisees heard it\, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.”

The Enemy:  (Matt.13:28) “He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?”  The devil is the enemy.  His name, Satan means adversary.

The Devil:  (Matt.4:1) “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.”

Liar: (John 8:44) “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”  Not only is he a liar, but he is also able to perform lying wonders.  (Rev.16:14) “[Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.  To those of you that are into Wicca and witchcraft, and magic arts, how do you know what is giving you power?  Satan is a great deceiver and capable of performing miracles.

The Tempter: (Matt.4:3) “And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.”  Many fall into temptation who fall into Satan’s traps.

Adversary: (IPet.5:8) “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”  Men are not your adversary.  Satan is.  (Eph.6:12) “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  The enemy is not of this world.  It is alien entities and demonic forces of the spiritual realm who work through men.

Satan:  (Rev.12:9) “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

The Deceiver: (IIJohn 1:7) “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.”  This doesn’t have to do with a name attributed to Satan directly, but it does apply to his servants by whom he works through.

The Dragon: (Rev.12:9) “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (20:2) “And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.”
