The twelve Names of God

Elohim- Gen.1:1- (Creator) “In the beginning, God.” God here is the Hebrew word, Elohim, or plural for God. It is in this verse that we recognize God as the creator.
Jehovah- “The Lord God” Gen.2:7- “And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” This deals with a covenant as in a man and his father. God is a covenant keeping God. In Gen. 6, God said for the animals to come 2x2. But, God said to prepare seven for sacrifice. Representing His covenant love.

.Elshadi- (Trust) Gen.17:1- “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect” He is the supplier of our every need. The more than you need God. The one who provides more than you need.

Addoni- (The lord, master, or owner) We must have reverence to our master. Gen.18:3- “And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:”
Jehovah Jireh- (Provision, or desire) “Jehovah shall be seen” He is our provider because we’re His children, but, our desires are met because we obey.

Jehovah Raffa- (Healer,Physician) Exodus 15:26- “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.” Everything before Addoni comes because of the fatherhood of God. Everything after Addoni comes because We obey God.

Jehovah Nissi- (Victory) Exodus 17:15- “And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:” 1Cor.15:57- “But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” God is the one who brings the victory.

Jehovah Mikkadesh- (Sanctification) Lev.20:7-8- “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I [am] the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I [am] the LORD which sanctify you.”

Jehovah Tsidqenuw- (The Lord our righteousness) Jeremiah 23:5-6- “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this [is] his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

Jehovah Shalown- (The Lord is our peace) Judges 6:24- “Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it [is] yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites”
Jehovah Ra’ah (Rahi ie. raw-hee). (The Lord our shepherd) Psalm 23:1- “A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Jehovah Shammah- (Jehovah is there) “This has to do with his divine presence. God’s name reveals Him. Ezekiel 48:35- It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.”

A Pattern For Prayer

When sin is present, fellowship is broken. As it was with Jesus on the cross. In order for us to pray effectively, we must know Him, fellowship with Him, know His spirit, depend on Him, and fellowship with our brothers and sisters.

Matthew 6:10- “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”. “Thy kingdom come” pray that you will see it. Matt.12:28- “But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you” The Holy Ghost’s power and the destruction and overthrow of Satan, must be in our prayers. 1Cor.4:20- “For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power.” Romans 14:17-

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” As a result of our prayers, salvation will come to others. Through the preaching of the gospel, the kingdom will come through us. 1Corinthians 29:11- “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.”

7 Revelations of God’s Kingdom

When the kingdom comes, there is power.
There will be greatness.
There will be glory.
There will be victory.
The majesty of God will be evident.
God will show His ownership of his saints.
God will manifest His authority.

“Thy will Be done.” Matt. 6:10- “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”. God has a secret will and a revealed will. We must pray that the revealed will comes to pass. The secret will has to do with world events prophecies etc. Deut.29:29- “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” The secret will of God nothing can oppose.

Prophecy, world events. Etc. The revealed will of God can be opposed. The things that God has for our lives. God’s will for Israel was for them to enter the promised -land. They didn’t. Their children did. Isaiah 46:10- “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (The secret will)

Rom.9:19-20- “Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed [it], Why hast thou made me thus?” Luke 7:30- “But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.”

(The revealed will can be opposed) Psalm 119:27,33,336- v,27, “Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.” V.33, “HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it [unto] the end.” V.36, “Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.” Psalm 103:20-21- “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

Bless ye the LORD, all [ye] his hosts; [ye] ministers of his, that do his pleasure”. Just as the angels obey the secret will in heaven, help us to obey the revealed will on earth. We are to move with speed and strength as the angels do. Col.1:9-11- “ For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.” We are to pray that God’s will be shown to others.

10.       Our daily Bread- (necessity) Matt.6:11
11.       And Forgive us- (Penitence) Matt.6:12
12.       Our Debts- (Obligation) Matt.6:12
13.       As we Forgive- (Forgiveness) Matt.6:12
14.       Our debtors- (Mercy) Matt.6:12
15.       Lead us not- (Guidance) Matt.6:13
16.       Into Temptation- (Protection) Matt.6:13
17.       But deliver us- (Salvation) Matt.6:13
18.       From evil- (Righteousness) Matt.6:13
19.       For thine is- (Faith) Matt.6:13
20.       For thine is the power- (Humility humble) Matt.6:13
21.       And the glory- (Reverence) Matt.6:13
22.       Forever- (Timelessness) Matt.6:13
23.       Amen- (Affirmation) Matt.6:13

Matt.6:11-13- Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

The word and in this verse connects what Jesus said with what He said previously. We are to ask God to forgive us as often as we eat, and forgive others as well. Matt.6:13 (And lead us not into temptation) We are to ask God that we do not commit the same sin we just confessed previously. Deliver us from evil means to prevent me from doing it again!

James1:13-15- “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” God tests, Satan tempts.

God will sometimes withdraw His presence and leaves us to ourselves to show us our hearts. Testing leads to repentance. 2Chronicles32:31-“Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.”

1Corinthians 10:13- “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” God always gives a way out of temptation. Psalm 94:18- “When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.” Psalm 119:117- “Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.”
2Peter 2:9- “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:”

So, we need to forgive everyday and be forgiven, and be strong against temptation everyday. Matt.6:13- “ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Notice it says but, deliver us from evil. But we don’t need deliverance everyday. Satan comes every season. He departed from Christ in the wilderness for a season. God gives us a season to be refreshed and renewed so we can battle the enemy the next time he comes.

Give us this day- (Provision)
Forgive us- (Pardon)
Lead us Not- (Prevention)
Deliver Us- (Preservation, keeps us save)

2Cor.11:3- “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ”. The Lord keeps us wise to see when the enemy comes.

James 4:7- “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. When He said deliver us from evil, he was saying give me the strength to resist Satan.
1Peter 5:8-9- “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” We are to pray that we don’t give Satan any weapon he will use against us.

The weapon Satan always uses against us is our flesh. Keep the flesh dead. Rom.6:13- “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” Rom.13:14- “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

How do we submit to God and resist Satan? Every weapon Satan has against you, you have given him first. A weakness. Satan will tempt us to draw weakness out of us.
How do we keep from having our weaknesses drawn out and used against us and keep the flesh dead? Rom.13:14- “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].” We must be clothed with God’s presence.
